Advantages of PF Technology

TuffCutter replaces welded hardmetal with Bilt-In tungsten carbide caps. Tungsten carbide is the wear resistant material in tooth bit hardmetal. Conventional tooth bits use welding processes requiring heat input of around 3,000F to properly bond hardmetal to the steel tooth. Tungsten carbide begins to dissolve into steel matrix at around 2,160F, losing its effectiveness to resist wear. The unique PF process with Bilt-In tungsten carbide caps controls the forging temperature to 2,100F, below the temperature tungsten carbide begins to dissolve. The result is more effective tungsten carbide with no loss of wear resistance.
