200% more heat tolerant, 400% more abrasion resistant
TReX cutters feature a unique thermostable, self-sharpening, ultra wear resistant layer
on the cutting face of a premium PDC cutter. Tests demonstrate that this integral layer is 400%
more abrasion-resistant and 200% more heat tolerant than the highest-grade PDC material. This
dramatic improvement in heat tolerance means the cutter can withstand twice the heat at the cutting
edge before the diamond degrades to graphite. Together, these attributes allow TReX equipped bits
to drill into harder, more abrasive formations than is possible with PDC cutters, resulting in
significant economic benefits.
Significantly more ROP
When a TReX cutter finally starts to wear, the ultra wear-resistant, thermostable layer forms a distinct lip. This lip
dramatically increases contact stress at the rock interface, providing higher
ROP than a premium PDC
cutter bit.
Field
results have shown that bit runs with TReX cutters produced ROP increases of over 30% and drilled
30% farther compared with the same bit types without TReX cutters. Exact results
may vary depending on the formation and application, and can be considerably more than 30%.
