TransFormation® Bits

 Products

Transformation® bits drill a broader formation range by using a dual cutting structure design which adjusts cutter loading in response to changes in formation hardness. Because Transformation® bits are designed with primary and secondary blades, they drill more like light set bits in soft formations and effectively double their blade count in harder interbeds.

Primary Blades make a Transformation bit very fast in soft formations. Cutters on primary blades remove approximately 80% of the rock so tracking cutters on secondary blades have less work to do and will not slow ROP like the extra cutters on conventional heavyset PDC bits.

Secondary Blades become more important when a Transformation bit encounters harder formations. Cutters on the secondary blades remove additional rock, reduce the load on primary cutters, and improve bit stability. The result is longer bit life in harder formations.

TransFormation Bit Performance

ReedHycalog®'s Transformation bits provide the broadest formation bandwidth available to the industry.
Because TransFormation bits change drilling action as the formation characteristics change, they achieve high performance across a much broader range of applications.

Other optional technology features for TransFormation bits

TReX® Cutters, SwitchBlade® Hydraulics, DiamondBack™ Cutters, Hybrids, Spiral Gauge, Turbine Sleeve.
The TransFormation® technology can also be applied to SteeringWheel® Bits and Rotary Steerable Bits.
